Azpilicueta Crianza 2012 (Graciano, Mazuelo and Tempranillo)
The awesomeness of its architecture and the efficiency of its modern making process locate the Azpilicueta cellar at the forefront of wine making and new wine culture. Some of their processes, recovered from tradition, such as the descent of the grape by gravity and the excavation of the cellar, are features of intelligence at the service of the final result. A cellar, possibly one of the best in the world, located in the heart of La Rioja, in a privileged spot for harvesting, making and breeding of wine.
TASTING NOTES OF Azpilicueta Crianza 2012:
- View: cherry red with good intensity, lively with golden sparkles. Clean and bright.
- Nose: The nose is perfumed which include fruit notes on a background of toasted wood and soft aromas of vanilla, coconut and spices.
- Mouth: Full-bodied, soft, balanced and pleasant.
VINEYARD: Bodegas Azpilicueta
GRAPES: 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano 5% Mazuelo
AGEING: This wine has been aged for 12 months in American oak barrels and French, fluent in American oak for the French. Full aging for at least 6 months in bottle.
METHOD: Handpicked. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature
around 25 °C. Maceration of approximately 12 days
PAIRING: sausages, rice, vegetables, mushrooms, white and red meats.
TEMPERATURE: 12-16 °C.

Good colour. Scent of roses and white flowers. I don't know, it seemed a bit salty.
To this red would have suit better a softer meat.
