From time to time, studies reveal the benefits of a particular food or drink in reference to certain health problems, or related to the prevention of all kinds of diseases. Celebrities who make wine

 -

More and more celebrities and stars produce their own wines; fame increases the success of their releases, a phenomenon that we already witnessed in perfume and clothing. But the new trend for those stars seems to be the production of wine.

The couple formed by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie continues to be in the center of all the attention. Pitt took advantage of this situation by launching its inaugural vintage, and Angelina its Miraval Rosé 2012, which were sold in 5 hours.

This sales record had an impact on the wine community and generated reflections. It also showed the desperation of the fans for purchasing a wine bottle launched by Jolie and Pitt. This event generated many press releases and further interest in wine. In order not to take too much advantage of their names, the bottles were not marketed at exorbitant prices, with a 15 ? per bottle.

However, not every famous stars offer fair prices or accessible wine bottles onto the wine market. Yao Ming (former basketball player in the NBA) charged 390 Euros for every bottle of its first harvest. Other stars linked their names to wine like Fergie (Black Eyed Peas vocalist), Drew Barrymore, Andres Iniesta and Lionel Messi. But some of them engage themselves further in the process of production, vineyards and crops such as Francis Ford Coppola, who owns part of Inglenook Estate and has managed to create a great and highly respected brand in the wine marketplace.

The quality of the celebrities wines varies at least as much as their prices, and in my personal opinion they should be selected in the same way you would select a regular wine, unless you’re a self-confessed fan of any specific personality, and wish to purchase a bottle for your collection.

And if you are, we recommend:

How to pair beer well?

Luckily, nowadays we can enjoy a great range of beer flavours: sweet, bitter, somewhat spicy? that means we can mix them more efficiently with food flavours. Now, we can find ways to marry beer and food.

For example, lager marries perfectly with some fishes such as tuna, salmon, and with Sushi as it enhances the flavour of soy and raw fish. Exactly as for wine, the flavour of the beer must never contrast with that of the food to maintain the aromas and flavours, it has to enhance it even more.

Wheat beer marries well with all kinds of aperitif snacks and first courses such as pasta, salads, shrimp, asparagus, cured meet? and many more, thus giving a refreshing touch to all kinds of dishes. For more substantial dishes like meets and main courses, it is best to drink a beer with more body, like roasted beer, flavoured lager or even ale.

With desert, spicy or home made beer marry perfectly, especially ones with touches of liquorish flavours or any flavour that the consumer rather enjoys. With sweet foods such a chocolate, it?s better to favour an ale that will leave you with touches of liquorish and dried fruit.

A fresh lager tends to marry well with more tart flavoured dishes with a strong vinegar touch because it reduces the sourness of the vinegar or escabeche, that is too strong for some palates. You can choose a fresh lager to accompany spicy dishes like curry to also mild out the strong tart and sour flavours. When it comes to cheeses, it?s important to know that not all can marry with beer, it?s always better with cow cheese, and among those, there will also be various degrees of compatibility.

Anyway, every palate is a universe, it?s a matter of the taste and the colour, some people will find that some foods marry perfectly with beer and others won?t.

Which beer do you find marries best with your food? Here are our recommendations:

Marsala wine

TAGS:Marsala wine is produced in Sicily, Italy, in a region that has the same name and received a protected designation of origin in 1969. Marsala wine is similar to port; it was initially fortified to withstand sea travels and then gained in popularity.

Marsala wine is produced under the process ?In Perpetuum?, very similar to the one used to make sherry. This process is to raise the level of alcohol while preserving the characteristics during long sea voyages. It is made from white grapes Grillo, Inzolia and Catarratto types, among others.

The Marsala wine was served as an appetizer between the first and second dish, and most recently served as a dessert with Roquefort cheese, Parmesan and other spicy cheeses, fruits or pastries.

Marsala Wine is classified according to its sweetness, color, and aging; levels of sweetness are dry (with maximum 40 grams of sugar per liter) semi (41-100 grams per liter) and sweet (with more than 100 grams per liter)

With regard to aging, it may be Gold, Ambra, Rubino, Fine (aged one year), Superiore (Aged two years), Superiore Riserva (Aged at least 4 years), Vergine or Pavers (Aged at least 5 years), Vergine or screeds or screeds Stravecchio e Vergine Riserva (aged at least 7 years). Marsala wine is also quite used for cooking and making sauces.

The appearance of Marsala wine can vary from golden brown to ruby, to amber, and is popular in Americans Italian restaurants for his versatility and because it allows you to create all kinds of recipes. Some popular recipes made from wine are Chicken Marsala, Beef Marsala, Marsala and Fruit Tofu, and seafood Marsala.

How portuguese vinho verde is made

TAGS:The Vinho Verde is a wine from Portugal and more specifically from the province of Minho. Is has acid dyes and is slightly frothy. The vinho verde is produced in a wide area ranging from Cambra Valley to the Rio Minho, which forms the border with Galicia – Spain. Its name Vinho verde (green wine) comes from the youth of the grapes used and is an appellation of origin since 1984.

It has digestive properties due to its freshness; it is consumed during the summer and can be red (full-bodied, intense color and slightly sparkling) or white (greenish or straw). The history of Vinho Verde was initiated by the religious  who made contributions to the Portuguese crown.

The vinho verde is made in the traditional manner without the technological artifacts; young musts rich in sugar and acidity are collected, then treated with nitrogen for a more effective fermentation (sudden temperature increases must be avoided).

For the preparation this wine must pass by a malolactic fermentation, which involves the conversion of malic acid (present in grapes and other fruits) to lactic acid by the bacteria and using vitamin B, purines, pyridines and some amino, reducing the acidity and enhance its quality.

Sometimes malolactic bacteria are artificially added to this wine to cause fermentation. In the special case of the Portugal green wine, we try to prevent that the fermentation takes place in the bottle.

One of the grapes that is more used for the production of Vinho verde is the Albariño grape. It is used for white wine production in the region of vinho verde. Additionally are harvested white caste of Arinto, march back, Azal, Batoca, Laurel, and Trajadura, among others. And red caste of Amaral (Azal red), Borracal, Espadeiro, Baker, Horsetail Anho and Pedral, among others.

As we begin the summer, vinho verde, for its freshness and softness, is a must. Do you sign up to buy vinho verde? Then we recommend:

What is a sweet red wine ?

The natural sweet wine is a wine with high sugar content, and comes from the same process as fortified wine. It may be red, rosé or white. Some people find it easier to drink sweet red wines than traditional wines, stronger and more complex.

Some well-known sweet reds that you can find on the market are fruit wines made from blueberries and strawberries. You can also find sparkling Lambrusco wines from northern Italy, Port wine, of Portuguese origin, and the sweet reds with Monastrell, from Jumilla, Alicante and Malaga, for example.

The vintage drafting process is delayed, so that the grapes are even more mature than usual. When the grape juice is fermented and sugar has turned into alcohol, alcohol is added (5-10%), in order to stop the process of the yeast, preventing a part of the natural sugars from becoming alcohol.

The quality sweet wines are quality liqueur and as such they are regulated by the rules of designations of origin too. To be considered as such a sweet red wine must have more than 250 grams of natural sugars per liter, and its alcohol content is usually from 12% by volume. The sum of rectified alcohol from other distilled wine products will reach between 15% and 22%.

Garnacha wines are one of the sweetest, with low tannins and quite fruity, but with a light body, and that?s why we like it so much. Do we recommend any? Of course! Here you go:

Wine against stress

We know that wine has many properties. It maintains heart rate, is an antioxidant and provides general health. Many doctors recommend drinking one or two glasses a day.

It also serves to reduce the stress. A study of the University of Sunderland in England analyzed the drinking habits of five different groups of workers, both public and private sector between 21 and 55 years old. It states that British consumers who drink wine use it as a stress reducer.

This happens much more in the middle class workers. In fact, it establishes that they can drink wine to escape, for example, after a tiring day. The choice is based on the knowledge of each drink when choosing the type of drink they want, either for dinner or for a quiet drink.

Research of the University of Sunderland concluded that there is a common perception among some groups of people who regularly drink wine at home to combat stress. And it states that they normally have a low consumption, regulated, studied and nothing problematic.

And that wine, particularly red wine, provides minerals for the body, such as zinc, magnesium, iron and potassium, as well as improving blood circulation in the brain.

Wine is an anti-stress drink, since the percentage of alcohol is relatively low and acts directly as relaxing in the brain.

Does it mean that a good Rioja wine will help you be more relaxed? By the way, today I recommend two great wines for you:

Spring drinks

TAGS:Spring is back, the sun begins to shine, the days are longer and we are looking for fresh air. Thus, the most refreshing drinks are the stars of the season.

The terraces are filled with friends, installed in order to chat and have fun while the day goes away. In these encounters nothing better than to enjoy a good beer, if lager, much better, by providing less consistency, more freshness and lightness, and fewer degrees of alcohol.

The pink and white wines are perfect for outdoor midday. They can be combined with salads, pasta, paella, fish and as an appetizer before a heavy meal. And to wash it down, mid-afternoon, nothing better than a sweet wine that will combine perfectly with many different desserts.

The Saturday and Sunday noon spring are also perfect for informal meetings with friends or families. Gin and tonics is the perfect cocktail for this meeting, accompanying all sorts of meats and food.

In parallel, the pink martini also has a great success during this period of the year.  It’s the classic cocktails of all time; you can even enjoy it before dinner, something that is a getting more and more usual in European cities.

The heat makes us want sweeter flavors. The fruit liqueurs are perfect to quench thirst and provide new and sweet experiences to the palate: from peach, pear, to other more exotic flavors such as lychee, coconut, blackberry, guarana

And after dinner, we recommend refreshing herbal liqueurs, coffee, pacharán or limoncello sweeter and milder.

Do you dream about a fresh beer for the days of pre-summer heat? Here you go!

How many bottles must I buy?

TAGS:Are you one of those people who enjoy organizing meeting with friends and family at home, but always doubt about the right amount of wine you need to buy? It might help you to know that the international standards are 6 glasses of wine per bottle. But you must consider some specificities in order to please all your guests.

It is important to note that the amount of wine used is different for each occasion. If during a regular occasion you will be able to serve 6-7 glasses of wine per bottle, you must keep in mind that the tasting glasses have less capacity than regular glasses.

The wine bottles classic content is 0.75 liters, and the glasses themselves have a standard capacity of 125 milliliter. But those standards can be changed, a good example is the glass of Bordeaux. These differences are generated by the type of wine and its flavor, because some of them (such as Muscat) should be used moderately in order to keep the taste.

The temperature issue has an impact on the number of glasses per bottle. Sometimes, by serving hosts several small amounts of wine in repeated rounds you can prevent a too big change of temperature.

If you take these factors into account, and if you do a conscious choice on the type of wine you will serve, you will have a better estimation of the amounts of wine you need to buy for your celebration.

Are you ready to serve wine? Today we recommend two great wines at the best price:
