Cocktails with Whiskey for Winter

TAGS:undefinedFar from the somewhat spicy, citrusy and wonderfully refreshing summer cocktails, at this time of the year, people want more consistent cocktails. Hence, we recommend some whiskey-based cocktails that you will enjoy the most. Will you dare to try them?

The Manhattan cocktail is famous for its strength. Its preparation is simple, pour two parts of whiskey together with one part of vermouth and add two dashes of bitter with crushed ice. Then, add a few dashes of bitters. Garnish the finished Manhattan with a cherry for an appealing presentation.

We find a higher concentration of whiskey in the Esmeralda cocktail. In this case, equal proportions of Irish whiskey and Italian vermouth are mixed. Then, add a dash of orange or lemon flavouring for a citrus twist. Pour the preparation into a shaker and agitate.

Irish coffee is a Winter-time classic. This coffee is the perfect hot drink to end a delicious meal. To make this cocktail, you need 2 parts of Irish whiskey and 5 to 6 parts of coffee. Simply pour the whiskey into the sweetened coffee and top it off with cream. Alternatively, indulge yourself with some whipped cream to garnish the top.

November Rain is a cocktail made by Javier de las Muelas. This drink takes advantage of whiskey’s smooth and creamy texture. Combine it with Maker’s Mark whiskey, drops of Droplets Tonka Bean, nougat ice cream and black chocolate liqueur to achieve an unctuous winter cocktail. It is easily made by shaking all the ingredients in a Boston shaker for 10 seconds. Garnish the top with coffee beans to impress your friends.

Simple and easy cocktails

 -

It is time to give to your loved ones. Besides champagne and wine are, which are in all tables, the cocktails are ideal for a special occasion. Which do you prefer?

Champagne or/and cava are both of the most special drinks. For this reason, the cocktails mixed with cava will be delicious and, in this way, we use the cava sometimes leftover from open bottles.

The Champagne and mixed fruits give an exquisite flavour. You can combine a bit of a sparkling wine with peach juice. As simple and straight forward and, at the same time, original because you’ll surprise your guests by offering this combination. We recommend serving the cocktail before the meal as an aperitif.

Moreover, if you like sweet and creamy drinks, nothing like the White cocktail, made with amaretto, a cream liqueur of your choice and vodka. It makes a great dessert after eating so many candies. Its elaborations is simple: just mix the ingredients described above in a shaker and pour them in a martini glass for better decoration.

For those who prefer something without alcohol, is very easy to use fruit juices, cinnamon, vanilla and a little milk. We can also add sugar to make it even sweeter. We can mix the milk with natural fruit juices (orange, lemon…) apart and then pour in a crystal goblet. Then, add the spices, such as cinnamon or vanilla. We’ll put ice on int to make it much cooler.

Red is the colour of this year. The cocktails take this colour in order to offer a more festive feeling these days. You can make a fun cocktail mixing Campari, currant and strawberry liqueur. An explosive mix that will be sweet… even we we can add red berries.

Digestive cocktails to be able to face more Christmas dinners

TAGS:Christmas sometimes does not give us a breath and we might think that we are being stuffed to be taken to the slaughterhouse on January… Have you never had that feeling that you could not eat anything again in a day? Yes, you can be so full. Normally this usually happens at Christmas and when it happens, sometimes there is no choice but to replace next day fasting required for one more day?s journey stuffing oneself. The solution to get back to a table full face is choosing the right wine aperitif.

Sometimes, a good cocktail is the ideal remedy to reopen appetite so we can have the strength again to face three courses, dessert, candies and digestion. Today, however, we will not talk of liquors and spirits, but instead we will focus on the wines, which can also perform this function to get us to go hungry again.

I will divide my suggestions for wine aperitif in three parts: vermouth, sherry and manzanilla.

Vermouth: since I’ve had the opportunity to learn more about the Catalan traditions at snack time, among which there are taking some chips with salsa Espinaler, I quickly joined it. How good it is!. But of course, as what helps prepare the stomach for another feast is to drink something, we will replace this snack for its drinkable version: Espinaler Vermouth Blanc and Espinaler Vermouth Negre. There is something for everyone.

Manzanilla: Manzanilla Fina Barbadillo and Manzanilla La Gitana. As soon as you have the glass in your hand you feel like for asking for olives. Oh! I already forgot that I was full. It must be the Sanlucar de Barrameda effect which makes us ready for party and revelry, no matter where we are.

Fine wines from Jerez: Lustau Palo Cortado Peninsula 2010 leads a list in which Tio Pepe or Fino La Ina cannot be missed as they are two of the leading exponents of this type of wine. For those who prefer to run away of classic in order to embark on other adventures, I would recommend Sauci S’Naranja, an outstanding alternative in color, flavor and nuances with its combination of Pedro Ximenez and Palomino Fino grapes.

Christmas Punch

 TAGS:

The origin of Christmas punch goes back to ancient Persian villagers who consumed a very similar beverage to the “Panch” consisting of rum, water, sugar and herbs, then this custom passed to Europe where the drinks name was changed to “Punch”.

Christmas punch may vary based where in the world it is prepared: for example, Mexican Christmas punch is a drink made on the basis of tecojotes, apples, guava, raisins, cinnamon, water and tamarind.

Its preparation is simple and involves placing all ingredients in a pot and let boil, then simmer a few minutes and stop to let it rest.

In these pre-Christmas days, while you wait for your Christmas Gifts, we show how to make different types of traditional Christmas Punch:

The traditional Christmas milk punch is a drink that is served hot and is a delight at meetings and parties:

Christmas Milk Punch

Ingredients:

Elaboration:

Whisk in a bowl the hot milk, egg yolks and honey, sprinkle the edges of the glasses with grenadine and sugar and serve. Decorate with mint leaves and sprinkle a little cinnamon to taste.

Another kind of Christmas punch that has earned a place among the habits in December and which it’s served cold, is the rum and cacao Punch.

Rum and cocoa punch

Ingredients

  • 10 eggs
  • 5 tablespoons of cocoa butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup rum
  • 3 cups of powdered milk
  • Cinnamon powder

Elaboration:

For the preparation of cocoa and rum punch, place all ingredients except cinnamon in a blender and mix, then save the glass in the refrigerator and serve the drink in a glass sprinkled with a little cinnamon to taste.

Finally, there is a typical Venezuelan cream punch very suitable for these dates, based upon condensed milk which in some regions is served cold in this season, as its name says it is very creamy:

Venezuelan cream Punch

Ingredients

  • 1 can condensed milk
  • 5 egg yolks
  • ¼ cup rum
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Elaboration

It consists of blending egg yolks for 5 minutes, then add the condensed milk, rum and vanilla and blend for another 5 minutes. For storage place it in glass bottles and saved in the refrigerator. You could drink it already, but it is better cold and if you keep it refrigerated and macerate for 3 days.
