Best summer drinks (II)

TAGS:undefinedSangria is definitely another option. But not any kind of sangria: it should be the homemade one. Like vermouths, this traditional and sociable drink, come back to the tables. We are referring to a fresh, fun and urban sangria with fun design bottles. If it can be further ecological, then, even better. Very fresh, sangria becomes gourmet. A good sangria in summer can be served as an aperitif, but unlike the Vermouth or Pastis, you can perfectly accompany your meal as a seafood paella and vegetables or during a barbeque. Grilled vegetables are delicious and with a few degrees of alcoholic bleeding, success is assured.

Sangria is definitely a symbol of Spain for many tourists and is perfect for summer. A third of wine (young) for two of soda, a slice of lemon and another orange and a few ice cubes, use to be the perfect recipe. The key to making a very good one is the base ingredients. Wine does not have to be expensive but it should be well made. Not worth anyone. The soda does not have to be the bad one either. You can choose a mineral water with gas so it is not so sugary. No need for your summer red to become a Calimocho (Spanish cocktail composed of Coke and red wine)! There is also the possibility of adding some vermouth to the mixture. It will give a nice and smooth spicy touch.

Apart from Pastis, which is also very Mediterranean, all other products are traditional in Spain. Manzanilla is one of them: this wine from Sanlúcar de Barrameda, close to Jerez, is a good alternative during the summer, with an incredibly cheap price and is really enjoyable with tapas.

La Manzanilla is a dry white wine, made with Palomino grape and aged under a layer of yeast called flower veil. Its upbringing is carried out exclusively in wineries in Sanlúcar de Barrameda. Its color is very pale, a bright yellow straw. Of pungent and delicate aroma in which they emphasize floral notes that remember to the chamomile, memories almonds and aromas of bakery. The palate is dry, fresh and delicate: with a light and soft palate, despite its dry finish. It has a slight acidity that produces a pleasant sensation of freshness and a persistent and slightly bitter aftertaste.

For me, it is by far the best of appetizers in summer or one of them … A glass of Manzanilla, after a complicated or good day, does not matter … with good sausages and some good olives, enjoy!

You don’t need to travel to Spain to drink Sangria: see our best recipes

 TAGS:undefined

One of the things that everyone love about Spain is paella and sangria. It may seem a cliché, but ends up being something real, since a large part of foreigners ask sangria for its quite different and strong taste.

It is a drink that is served throughout the year, but summer is the best time, since always is served chilly. The advantage is that it’s a wine cocktail, mixed with other ingredients, but there are different varieties and types of sangria: from the traditional, made with red wine, to the white wine and cava ones.

The good news is you do not need to travel to Spain to drink sangria. You can make your own to share with friends or at a party, with different recipes.

Red wine sangria

We can choose a quality and renowned red wine as Rioja, a bottle is enough, add some soda, ¼ cup sugar, orange juice and lemon, fruit cubes, orange and lemon slices, and some other liquor as Cointreau or brandy.

Cava sangria

It is a variety of sangria that can be found in Spain, but also in other countries. A bottle of cava will suffice, some brandy, 3 tablespoons sugar, fruit (may be lemons or oranges and their juice). You must also add ice, as in traditional red wine sangria. The colour will be different, though some people add a splash of red wine to add colour.

White wine sangria

It is less common, but increasingly popular, since its taste is slightly less powerful than the red wine one. Use a bottle of white wine, a quarter cup sugar, lemon juice, fruits to garnish and some herbs, such as mint or basil.

The fruits to garnish this type of sangria are also different: lemon, peaches and oranges, because the taste of fruits will be more evident. If we want, we can also add a splash of rum or vodka.

Drinks for a summer dinner

 -

During summer, we go out more, go to the beach, we move more and lunches and dinners are usually outside. All these celebrations are accompanied by soft drinks, very popular in summer.

Among them, especially for a good summer dinner, white wine is the king. It goes well with almost everything, especially salads, paella, rice, fish and seafood, which are generally the preferred dishes these months. Fresh white wine brings sweetness to any dish, and many young flavors of grapes, flowers and fruits. Rosé wine can also accompany these dinners.

The beers are special. They are made with great care by professionals and beer lovers, and are currently very popular. One summer evening is the perfect time to try some of these lagers, especially if they are served very fresh. We also have premium beers and special editions that can be purchased in Uvinum.

If we are a group and we want the meal to turn into party, we will choose some cocktails. The caipirinha is the queen of summer. The cocktail with rum, lime, sugar and lots of ice can be prepared at home. But if we are tired of staying in the kitchen, we can always choose to buy creams and liqueurs of capirinha already prepared … They are really good and your guests will love it!

The sangria is also the queen of this season. In general, many people like it, so that your success is assured. Its advantage lies in its freshness. The mixture of red wine and fruit makes it easy and simple to prepare. Surprise your guests with another variant of sangria such as cava sangria.

Want to surprise your friends with a big party? We recommend you the refresh:

3 Sangrias to organize a party

TAGS:Sangria is a typical Spanish drink, which is consumed especially in summer. It is much more Spanish than for example wine, where we compete with the French or English or beer, with Belgians and Germans, as main producers. In whole Europe (or in the whole world) sangria is the Spanish ambassador par excellence and the secret of success of the Spanish summer.

Its preparation is very easy and varied. Sangria is a “wine punch” and it’s the easy result of mixing red wine, a citrical juice, fruits and sometimes a little bit of brandy or some similar liqueur. There are also sangrias with Cava or Cider that contain different ingredients. That’s why in today’s post instead of showing you how to prepare home-made sangria, we recommend you 3 of the best sangrias for a party.

Summer is coming… And sangria!

TAGS:It’s one of the most international Spanish drinks. Everyone has sometimes drunk sangria, that drink that comes always by the summer thanks to its refreshing powers.

Although there are many ways to make sangria, the most traditional is really simple and inexpensive, since you have just to mix wine with portions of various fruits and ice. The secret of its flavor depends on the quality of the fruit and wine used.

A popular sangria which you can get at a lot of places in our country, puts together peaches, lemon and orange, sugar, gin, macerated red wine, a glass of lemon soda and lemon slices. Add a lot of ice, shake and serve in a large jar, since it will be usually consumed by several people.

It’s one of the refreshments for the summer, ideal for sharing with groups of friends, especially when we eat by the sea, with a paella or a fideuà. We recommend not drinking sangria in excess, as it could inebriate you quickly being so sweet, thanks to the fruit and large doses of sugar.

With lots of fruits

Another way to make sangria is mixing even more fruits, always at choice of the consumer. From apples, pears, peaches, lemons, oranges… or even soda, in addition to wine.

With various wines

Sangria is not made only with red wine, some variants also incorporate white and rosé wines.

With strawberries

Sangria with strawberries is also called ?Love sangria? and usually consumed in Valentine’s Day. It’s made with rosé wine and has a very sweet taste. It includes soda, sugar, and some other liquor but in small doses.

With cava

One variant of the traditional sangria is the the one with cava. It includes various fruits and other alcoholic beverages such as brandy or cointreau. Serve very cold!

When the heat comes, is the wine over?

TAGS:I disagree with the statement “when the heat comes, buy wine is over.” It is true that beer is a tough opponent for the grape juice in the coming months, especially when taking a walk we found that almost all the terraces we see in our way look like scenes of a beer commercial.

But we do not have to be alarmed because there are solutions to continue enjoying our favorite wines in and summer, of course! When temperatures rise, drinking a thick, dense, dark, powerful red wine may be our last wish… we feel like for something cooler. No problem, we can order a white wine, for instance a Riesling, a Sauvignon Blanc, an Albariño … mmmmhhhhhh! It has to be served chilled in a glass ad hoc and it will leave us with a colorful sensation: freshness, fruit and flowers notes, aroma … beers cannot be compared with this.

We can also take advantage of the high temperatures arrival to vary a bit and try some rosé wines, which seems to be forgotten by us during the year. Protos Rosado 2011, Marqués de Riscal or Enate, three Spanish figures that can compete with other rosés such as an Italian Lambrusco de Emilia, an Australian as the Massena Rosé 2007 or a French one like Tavel Les Eglantiers 2009.

We cannot miss the sparkling wines in this classification. These wines are usually perfect for long warm afternoons, for those who do not want to end the after – lunch and for snacks with a touch of chic.

People who like to experiment and are not afraid of the mixtures can opt for cocktails including wine in his compositions. The spanish Sangría is perhaps the most famous and exported one, but the Rebujito (dry sherry with some sort of soda like 7Up or Sprite), the Agua de Valencia (Cava, gin, vodka, orange juice and sugar) or the Tinto de Verano (red wine and soda) can compare favorably with it in this mediterranean country. A little less glamorous are Calimotxo (wine and coke) and Zurracapote (red or rosé wine with lemons, oranges, sugar, cinnamon and some berry liquor), which every youngster has ever tried.

In any case, we can always find a good time to enjoy our favorite red wine at a barbecue, a nice dinner or just because during the afternoon or after dinner. In addition, we can always choose young red wines that can be served a bit extra chilled and seem to fancy a little more. This is the perfect opportunity to discover new promising wines and start finding those wines which will be our next favorite for next winter or the coming years.

Anyway, if you don’t like wine in summer, we can suggest you a few options:
