Sour wine? Don’t throw it away! You can take advantage of it

 TAGS:undefined

If you have a sour wine in your home and you cannot drink it, there are always other ideas to get the most out of it. Do not throw it away!

One of the best ways to use it is in the kitchen. As long as you don’t drink it from a cup, you can use the sour wine in the preparation of certain dishes and improve those flavors of the meat or fish, either baked or cooked in the pot. With spices, citrus and a splash of wine you’ll be making delicious dishes!

It has always been said that wine is a perfect antioxidant for the skin. It renews it, leaving it brighter and silky, and is used in beauty salons and spa for treatment. Therefore, you may use your own sour wine to make a homemade mask with other ingredients that result in something finer, smoother and brighter for your skin health.

In the kitchen, a sour wine can have other uses. Besides cooking, it’s used to wash fruits and vegetables, because alcohol dissolves impurities and kills those microorganisms that may be in certain foods.

Also, it works wonderfully in our home glasses and crystals. In particular, white wine, because it contains vinegar that we can apply to our windows and clean all of them from our different rooms. It is very recommended you use these sour wines for that benefit, they shall be shining!

And talking about vinegar, sour wine can be used to make some of it too. It will serve to you as an extra condiment for your cooking. Just pour the leftover wine in jars or bottles and leave it to marinate so it gets vinegary. As older the bottle is the more vinegar taste will get, which is perfect. This vinegar will always be of higher quality than the ones we can buy at the supermarket and will give a different flavor to your dishes.

6 tips to drink Tequila

 TAGS:undefined

Tequila is a very popular drink around the globe. Moreover, it has been demonstrated that consumed in moderation, it’s capable of lowering cholesterol levels, preventing diabetes, senile dementia and even strokes and seizures.  A curious fact about Tequila is that it was used in 1918 as a remedy for an epidemic flu under recommendations of doctors, and proved to be a very effective method.

Tequila is elaborated from a specific class of blue agave which contains some particular features. Keep the following tips in mind to fully enjoy this drink!

  1. Choose a pure tequila: 100% Agave Tequila has a better taste and helps prevent hangovers. If you want to be sure that yours is 100% pure, pick one made by brands like Cuervo, Orendain and Sauza.
  2. Tequila Añejo: Despite being a little bit more expensive, Añejos have aged for at least one year. That provides a better flavor and complexity. If you go for this kind of tequila, remember to drink it at room temperature, neat and in a tequila glass or shot glass called “Caballito”.
  3. Alternate tequila and sangrita: Another option is to alternate a shot of tequila with a shot of sangrita, a traditional Mexican beverage without alcohol that helps to better digest the first shot. If you want to create your homemade sangrita just mix 1 cup of orange juice, 1 cup of tomato juice, 1 dash of lime juice, 1 tablespoon of grenadine and 4 dashes of hot sauce.
  4. Taste correctly: To taste the tequila correctly you should pour a measure of the drink in a shot glass, raise it up to your eyes, look at its color, stir gently and then wait for the liquid to adhere to the walls. Then, take a sip and savor for 10 seconds before repeating.
  5. Drink it with lime and salt: Contrary to the general belief, the majority of Mexicans don’t use lime and salt to drink their tequilas, but it’s an accepted way to do so. The other option is to drink it calmed and pure.
  6. Drink it as a margarita: another way to drink your tequila is by preparing one of the world’s most famous cocktails. For that, you only need to mix 2 parts of tequila with half part of orange liqueur, 1 part of lime juice and half part of agave nectar and ice in a shaker. Enjoy it!

Wine routes: General tips

TAGS:Times change, and more quickly in the tourism sector than others. In the case of wine tourism, it?s no longer an exclusive activity for wine lovers and is fast becoming popular among young couples, groups of friends, and families.

Attracted by the rural landscape and local wineries, at the moment it is very much in fashion to discover new regions through wine tourism. Now more than ever is a good time to follow a wine route through the province. And it?s also worth leaving the nine-to-five to let yourself experience charms you may have never encountered before.

Thinking of trying out this trend but don?t know how it works? No worries, the eDreams travel blog is here to give you a few tips so you know the main points. Take note?

1. Drinking and driving

It may seem obvious but it?s often overlooked. Wine contains alcohol and this doesn?t change in the countryside, so if you do travel there by car and drink too much it?s unadvisable to drive back.

It?s a much better idea to check out some local hotels and spend the night out on the route if it?s far from your home. This is also best to ensure?

2. Relaxation and de-stressing

TAGS:The main attraction of this kind of tourism is all the wineries – inside and out. While you may expect these establishments to be cold and dark, they are often actually very sophisticated and surprising.

When you?ve had enough of the winery interior you can take a walk through the fields, and enjoy the aroma of wine in the midst of the peace and tranquility that surrounds the area. Whether deliberately or not, the vineyards tend to be located far from the madding crowd so that your experience is all the more pleasant. You might feel far from civilization if you?ve come by plane or if you booked with a low-cost carrier to a secondary airport, but the wineries often organize bus services for sightseeing excursions.

3. Buying Wine

If you visit a winery you?re likely to end up buying a few bottles. Maybe it?s the effect of the atmosphere, the desire to take a memento or souvenir, or because the flavor made an impression on you, but the chances are you?ll give into temptation.

Of course, there?s nothing wrong with that, but remember not to go for well-known labels you could get anywhere. Open yourself up to new flavors and think of a special dinner at home, a family gathering or a gift for a good friend.

4. Transporting Bottles without Breakage

TAGS:If you?re taking a flight you need to be particularly careful about packing the bottles. If you?re carrying a hard case, it?s best to put them in the corner wrapped in clothing. If you?re travelling with a soft case or backpack, it?s better to put them in the middle but always well protected. You can?t imagine how unpleasant it is to get home and find yourself with no wine, no bottles, but a load of stained clothes. Don?t forget that some airlines have weight restrictions for baggage, so don?t try and take back too much.

Are you ready for a journey where each path has a different taste and texture? Prepare your palate because you are sure to try some new flavors.

Get your camera ready because you will definitely live some new experiences. And above all, keep your eyes open because you will be surrounded by some beautiful landscape. Choose your wine route and enjoy?
