The Olympic Games in Brazil are past and gone, but we can still enjoy the marvelous food and drink from this beautiful country. That’s why we would like to share with you some of its most famous drinks. Have you already tasted them?
Among their drinks, one of the most known and common is the Caipirinha, a drink that we are sure everybody drinks in the hot summer. This cocktail is quite easy to prepare: it only takes lemon juice, sugar, and cachaça, with pieces of fruit added by some Brazilian to give it more flavor. It’s really a refreshing cocktail in Spain and usually reserved for summer.
Coconut is one of the foods that are used in the cuisine of many countries in Latin America. It is used in dishes and also to make cocktails and other beverages. In Brazil, coconut milkshake is one of the typical drinks, which often contain rum, sugar and coconut milk. It is refreshing and sweet, also ideal for when the sun heats.
Much like the Caipirinha, a variety of the country is the Caipiroska, another refreshing cocktail that offers a variation of the previous: lemon juice, sugar and vodka, and that’s it, the latter ingredient is replaced instead of the cachaça.
And speaking of this, note that cachaça is a distilled alcoholic beverage in the country, which is usually obtained as a product of the distillation of juice fermented from sugar cane. The leavening agent is a corn flour, known as fubá, while distillation is done in a copper container. Artisanal cachaça is made by many small producers in the country.
In addition, Brazil also surprises by the amount of juices and natural and non-alcoholic drinks that it offers. We can get some juices mixed from orange and pineapple and other more famous fruits such as Surinam, red and delicious. While the passion fruit, already known throughout Europe, is yellow and can be taken in juices, ice cream and others. The cupuaçu fruit is green-brown with a really tasty flesh. It is usually used to make fresh juices and ice cream as well.
