The region of Veneto, in Italy, has an ancient winemaking tradition, being one of the most important areas of Italy for its production. In this area we find several DO and wines with different quality labels: Alto Livenza (IGT), Colli Berici, Colli Euganei, Colli Trevigiani (IGT), Conselvano delle Venezie (IGT), Marca Trevigiana (IGT), Merlot (IGT), Province of Verona or Veronese (IGT), Recioto di Gambellara (DOCG), Recioto della Valpolicella (DOC), Refrontolo Passito (DOC), Sauvignon (IGT), Vallagarina (IGT), Veneto (IGT), Veneto orientale (IGT), Verdiso (IGT) and Verduzzo (DOC).

The Veneto region encompasses a mountainous area with hills that range from the Pianura Padana to its charming beaches. While a large part of the wines with the highest quality of Italy is found in the regions of Tuscany and Piedmont, those of Vallpolicella or Merlot are also well known among the wines of Veneto.

Within the wines of Veneto, Colli Trevigiani enjoy various qualities and prices. For example, the Val D'Oca Ocabianca Bianco Secco Colli Trevigiani does not reach 5 euros, being a wine with 10.5% alcohol content. With a volume of 75 cl, it contains sulphites, and it is strongly demanded in several countries.

There are also Colli Trevigiani wines of medium category. This is the case of the Loredan Gasparin Colli Trevigiani Malbec 2015, which is produced with the well-known Merlot and Malbec grapes, being a red wine with a strong structure, volume and flavour.

Among its features it stands out that it is better served at a temperature of 16/18° C. It goes well with all kinds of food, especially meats, mushrooms, pasta and sausages. Other high-end wines feature flavours of berries, such as Venegazzu Capo di Stato 2013. This red, made with Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes, has a cherry colour, toasted notes and we can pair it with meats, cheeses and foies.

The wines of Veneto, as we see, are quite varied and eclectic. Aromatic and not too dry sparkling wines; quiet and fruity whites; and the velvety reds with aromas of berries.

In a matter of a few years, its productive strategy aimed at reducing volumes and increasing quality, and the wineries in the area are also focused on wine tourism.
