Terra de Lobos 2017 (Cabernet Sauvignon)
- View: Deep purple colour
- Nose: A pleasant floral scent with fruity notes of blackberries, plum, and an earthy undertow of spices
- Mouth: This blended red wine has a mild and balanced fruit-forward taste. Notes of cherry and blackcurrant along with soft tannins create a complex and rich flavour. The finish is satisfyingly long and velvety.
VINEYARD: Vineyards in the south of Portugal, on the left bank of the Tagus river, run by Manuel Lobo and Joana Silva Lopes. The vineyards have been growing for decades in sandy heath soils with North to South sun exposure.
GRAPES: Castelão, Cabernet Sauvignon
AGEING: Fermentation in stainless steel vats with strict temperature control prior to ageing
PREPARATION: Casal Branco winery has been making wine in southern Portugal since 1775, and the company applies its decades of wisdom by combining traditional winemaking methods with carefully researched new forms of wine preparation. Mechanical processes are turned down in favour of human action at every step; the grapes are hand-picked and sorted before being mashed via the traditional foot-stepping method. The result is consistently elegant and well-balanced wines.
PAIRING: Pasta, veal, pork, barbecues, or chocolate mousse
RIGHT SERVING RECOMMENDED SERVING TEMPERATURE: 16-18ºC.
