The founder of the family company, John Blandy, reached the island of Madeira at the beggining of 1808. Since then he dedicated to wine in body and soul. For 200 years, Blandy has been a synonym of quality wine from Madeira. In factm the Blandys are the only family of all the original founders of the wine commerce in Madeira. The family has played a key role in the developement of wine in Madeira through its long histoy and the family members still live in Madeira, perpetuating the tradition that goes back to 1811. Michael and Chris Blandy are the 6th and 7th generations to work in the business, that produces wines as good as this Blandy's Duke Of Sussex Special Dry.
TASTING NOTES OF Blandy's Duke Of Sussex Special Dry:
- View: Light Mahogany
- Nose: Aromas of toasted nuts
- Mouth: Flavors of nuts and apricot.
GRAPES: Tinta Negra Mole.
AGEING: 3 years in American oak barrels
PREPARATION: fermentation of the skins with natural yeast in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature
WINE PAIRING: Ideal as an aperitif or to accompany fish and Indian cuisine.
