Features of prosecco
When we talk about Prosecco wines from Veneto, we refer to those we can find in the regions of Veneto (provinces of Treviso, Venice, Vicenza, Padua and Belluno) and Friuli Venezia Giulia (provinces of Gorizia, Pordenone, Trieste and Udine).
It is usually made with the autochthonous Glera grape, while the Verdiso, Trevigiana, Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio and Pinot Nero grapes are used complete its elaboration, among other varieties.
In addition to the DOC Prosecco, we can find the DOCG Prosecco di Conegliano Valdobbiadene Superiore. Within DOC Prosecco we find several wines, such as DOC Tranquilo, which is a non-sparkling white; DOC Frizzante, white sparkling wine, sweet or dry; and DOC Spumante, white sparkling wines, sweet or dry. The DOCG Prosecco di Conegliano Valdobbiadene Superiore is made in the Conegliano Valdobbiadene area, in the province of Treviso. In addition, it produces frizzante (sparkling) and quiet wines.
The DOC Prosecco produces 200 million bottles, in a total of 269 wineries. As for the type of wine, we are talking about fresh wine. One of the most important Prosecco wines is the Cinzano, with pale yellow straw colour, aromas of acacia flowers, elderberry and apple touches. In the mouth it tastes like berries. We can pair it with pizza, appetizers, nuts, eggs... and its alcohol content is 11%.
