It should be noted, first of all, that Chile has positioned itself as a region where remarkable wines are produced. Many of them are exported internationally and compete with wines from important regions as France and Italy.
There are several main wine producing vineyards in the Casablanca Valley, among which we can mention Viña House Casa del Vino comuna de Casablanca, with a restaurant dedicated to cuisine d'auteur; Viña Indómita, Viña Veramonte, with a native forest and a small reservoir that allows bird watching; Viña William Cole, which offers wines of the Pinot Noir variety; Estancia El Cuadro, and Viña Catrala.
Within this wine tourism activity, the Harvest Festival of Casablanca takes place, which is celebrated during the second weekend of April. The celebration includes samples of local products, and the sale of typical dishes and wine tasting.
The production of wines in Casablanca Valley is usually varied. We find white wines, Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc and also, of course, reds, based on Pinot Noir. It should be noted that white strains have existed in the region for more than 30 years and they are very important.
That Casablanca Valley is currently well known is thanks to the initiative of the entrepreneurs of the valley, who created the so-called "Wine Route", which purpose is to promote the sector in touristic terms and expand their associative commitment.
In 2011 this route was founded and so the Association of Wine Entrepreneurs of the Casablanca Valley, as a trade association. It brings together wine producing entrepreneurs, grape producers, and many others, always offering all kinds of aspects that are linked to this appellation of origin.
